Walt was born on March 29th 1945 in Atlanta, Georgia to a paper manufacturer father and eight siblings. As a student-athlete at David Tobias Howard High School (where Walt earned both football and baseball letters), Walt excelled academically as well as athletically.
He graduated in 1963 and continued on to play basketball at Southern Illinois University on a scholarship. He was an outstanding player on both the football and basketball teams, widely considered to be the greatest player in school history.
His basketball career spanned four years and featured several All-Star appearances. He is best remembered for his lead in the deciding game of the 1970 NBA Finals, when he led New York Knicks to victory against Los Angeles Lakers.
After retiring from playing in 1980, Frazier began his telecaster and reporter career. He worked as a basketball reporter for TBS network before joining MSG Network as color commentator for Knicks game telecasts.
