In fact, if you live in the southeast of the city, the murder rate is the lowest. The murder rate is 0.06 per thousand residents per year, which makes it a relatively safe neighborhood. In addition, it is much safer than the national average, so you can feel safe in the city.
Authorities in Jefferson Parish are investigating the death of a man and a woman in Harahan. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Sunday in the 2100 block of Generes Drive. The victims were unarmed. Investigators have not found the killers, but they’ve identified the victims and arrested DaRius Sims. Earlier, the suspects were being held in St. Tammany Parish while awaiting extradition to Jefferson Parish.
Harahan was originally a farming community. The Doescher, Picone, and Lauricella families owned the area. The town is approximately 2.5 square miles and has two state highways passing through it. There are many businesses in the area. The city is home to numerous churches. There is a history of slavery in Harahan dating back to the 1800s.
In 2010, a Jefferson Parish jury found Christopher Davis guilty of the rape of his girlfriend. Davis had dated Sands for two years before committing the crime. He shot her in the back of the head as she was walking away from an argument. Robinson, meanwhile, had robbed a family at gunpoint in their home. During a struggle over the pistol, Robinson was shot multiple times. The victims rushed to the scene and knocked Robinson to the ground.
During the time of the rape, Harahan had a population of approximately 400. At the time, it was a sleepy village encompassing only two streets. From 1915 to 1928, the Orleans-Kenner Railway ran between New Orleans and Kenner. It took a sixteen-mile journey through the village. It later went to the Southern Railway Terminal in New Orleans.
