He was the father of John Thomas Somerville and grandfather of Cindy Somerville. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and later worked for Marshall & Bruce in the printing and book binding business. He loved animals and was particularly fond of golden retrievers, and also had a black sheep named Walnut. He is survived by his siblings, Moke, Cherry, Peter, and Josh.
