Hippo Cake
This hippo cake will delight your child’s guests at a party. The hippo looks like it is peeking out from the water, thanks to the layers of vanilla buttermilk cake. The icing has a rich, creamy texture and resembles hippodung. The cake will keep its moist texture for days. For an extra special cake, decorate the top with a hippo’s horn and eyes.
First, spread the chocolate buttercream on the cake board. Next, layer the sponge cake. Then, cover the cake in the light purple buttercream. This process should be repeated twice more. Repeat the process to make as many layers as you like. Frost the hippo cake once you have completed the layers. This cake is a great birthday treat for kids of all ages! If you’re planning to add fondant, consider using a purple-based frosting.
White icing can also be used to make the eyes of the hippo. Make a loaf cake that’s approximately 20 cm (8 inches) tall and round. This cake can sit horizontally behind the round cakes. To remove the tops of the loaf cakes, it is best to use a serrated blade. Once you’ve finished decorating the loaf cake, the next step is to place the second 20 cm (8-inch) round cake on top of the first cake.
