Barbie Butt
Proctectomy (also known as Barbie Butt surgery), involves the removal of the rectum, anus and colon. This is a major procedure performed under general anesthesia. Because the rectum and anus do not connect, stool no longer passes through the lower part of the colon. Total proctocolectomy is a more invasive procedure. The rectum, anus, and colon are all removed. Patients are placed under general anesthesia and may have other comorbid conditions or other health conditions.
Ashley Strickland was diagnosed in October 2016 with Crohn’s disease. She had ileostomy surgery which diverted her bowel via a stoma. To collect her waste, she also needed a bag. She was initially reluctant to change her life. However, she couldn’t live without it. In May 2017, she had another procedure to close her anus.
