Zhidong Chen

When you’re thinking about getting a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical chemistry, you may be wondering how to do that. Zhidong Chen is a pharmacist who has been a senior scientist at Genta Incorporated and Salus Therapeuticals. His doctorate was earned in the United States, and his wife couldn’t speak English. Zhidong Chen’s success is due to his varied experience in different fields.

Chen is a native of Guangxi, a region of southwest China. He met Hetty Wang at the university where Chen’s father was also a professor. Hetty Wang was also a professor, so the two spent their time together in a university. Hetty Wang and Chen were eventually able to obtain visas to study in the United States. They both left China in 1988 to arrive in San Francisco.

Chen started figure skating when he was three years old, using the skates of his sister. He qualified for his first competitive competition in 2003. By 2007, he was already advancing to the senior level. His junior years were marked by numerous wins. Chen finished eighth at the 2007 U.S. Junior Nationals. Junior Nationals, won the 2008 and 2013 Junior Grand Prix Finals, and won the intermediate men’s bronze at the 2014 World Junior Championships. Chen’s performances at the World Junior Championships were so impressive that they earned him three U.S. entries into the 2015 World Juniors.

While Chen was not a Pyeongchang 2018 gold medal candidate, he was a serious contender to win an individual medal in the program. After a disappointing performance, Chen reassessed his training routine and mental approach to the sport. This year, Chen has decided to focus more on the competition and winning gold, as he did at the last Winter Games. He’s not far away from it.

Chen was second in the short and free programs at the 2017 Rostelecom Cup, Moscow. He beat Yuzuru Hanyu, the reigning World champion. Chen was a contender to win a bronze medal at 2017 World Championships. He also won three consecutive Grand Prix events here in the United States. At the 2019 Internationaux de France, Chen became the first male skater to win eight straight Grand Prix events. Chen continues to win medals at figure skating competitions all over the world.

Chen is widely recognized for his outstanding achievements and has been called one of the top male skaters in the country. He has won three Olympic medals and three world championships. He became the first American to achieve quadruple jumps in both the short and long programs. He was unable to qualify for the 2016 World Junior Championships because of a left hip surgery. During this time, Chen was recovering at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.
