Rosa’s mother was several months pregnant during the trip. Her labor began just four days after her arrival. The family barely made it to the hospital. The staff of the clinic was overwhelmed. Fortunately, they were able to provide for Rosa and her siblings. The donated items included clothes for Rosa, blankets, diapers, and a new crib for all three children.

Rosa multiflora, also known as the Japanese rose, is native to eastern Asia. It is also the rootstock for many ornamental rose cultivars. It bears multiple flowers whereas the native roses in North America bear single flowers. Its flowers are 1.5-4 cm in diameter. It can grow up to 2.1 m.
