David Hearing

David’s hearing aids were not helping his tinnitus. After a six-month wait to get a proper hearing test, he found out that he had a hearing loss in the highest frequencies. The audiologist told him that wearing hearing aids was optional but David wanted to wear them for his tinnitus. Sadly, the Straub Medical Center that he went to does not participate in Humana Insurance, so they would charge him $2,500 for a pair of hearing aids.

David Hearing the News of Uriah’s Deat is a harrowing scene for David to witness. The scene depicts a messenger standing before David and Nathan waiting in the wings. As the messenger announces the death of Uriah, David recoils from the situation. The empty chair in front of him and space behind him are both evocative of his guilt. David stands up to greet the messenger, but suddenly stops in his tracks.

David has multiple disabilities, including hearing loss, cerebral palsy, visual impairment, and intellectual and language development disabilities. However, despite these challenges, he has a thriving social life. He was diagnosed with hearing loss at an early age, but the decision to pursue a CI was delayed until his late teens. Despite these challenges, David has a supportive family and caregiver network.

God spoke to David through Jonathan, but David also heard His voice through the people and circumstances of his life. As a Christian, we should use the tools God has provided us with in order to hear His voice. It’s important to be willing to listen to God in humility. When our mind is preoccupied with our own concerns, we won’t be able to hear God’s voice.
