Denzel Taylor Shooting
The investigation into the fatal officer-involved shooting in Sikeston, Missouri, continues with the Missouri State Highway Patrol investigating the case. On April 29, officers responded to a call of a shooting at a residence. When officers arrived, they found a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and in critical condition. The victim identified the suspect as Denzel Taylor and told officers that Taylor had shot him several times and had run away. The suspect was last seen near the intersection of School and Dorothy streets in Sikeston.
The police had previously executed a search warrant for Ms Taylor’s house, including her name and address. This was because the authorities suspected her ex-boyfriend, Jamarcus Glover, of hiding drugs. However, after Taylor’s death, the warrant was canceled, and the prosecutor later said the search was not valid.
Taylor had his hands buried in his hoodie when the officers confronted him. They ordered him to put his hands out of the pockets, but he refused to do so. The officers were able to see something inside Taylor’s pockets, so they continued shooting. The officers were able to hear Taylor saying, “Just kill me bro.”
The suspect was arrested in Missouri on Oct. 21 and was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center. He is accused of killing Denzel Taylor, 23, and Ladarrien Taylor, 25. The suspect shot both victims before 10 p.m. on Sept. 28. The victims were rushed to the Ochsner LSU Health Hospital.
