Born in Los Angeles, CA, Dwayne Hickman began his acting career at a young age. After his graduation from Cathedral High School, he attended Loyola Marymount University. His first feature was The Grapes of Wrath, a film that earned him a nomination for a Best Supporting Actor award.

Dwayne Hickman later went on to star in Captain Eddie (1945), My Dog Rusty, Rally ‘Round the Flag, and The Hoodlum Saint. During the mid-to-late 1960s, he appeared in many movies, including Cat Ballou with Jane Fonda, Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine, and Ski Party. He made guest appearances on several other shows, including Combat!, Kolchak: The Night Stalker, and Ellery Queen.

He married his first wife, Carol Christensen, in 1963. She was a model and beauty pageant winner. They divorced in 1972. Their second marriage was to Joanne Papile. A son, John Christensen Hickman, was born from this relationship. Since then, he has been married to Joan Roberts.

In addition to his acting and film production career, Dwayne Hickman is a renowned publicist and public relations consultant. For many years, he was the head of CBS’s programming department. Later, he became an entertainment director in Las Vegas. At the time of his death, he was living at his Los Angeles home. His public relations office confirmed that he died on January 9, 2022, at the age of 87.

During his younger days, Dwayne Hickman was an aspiring minister. He planned to become a Passionist minister. However, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, which he suffered from until his death. On his deathbed, Hickman was surrounded by friends and family.
