Guitar Posing

A guitarist can pose his guitar in a variety of ways to enhance his visual appeal. Some guitar posing ideas are more dramatic than others. For example, “face point” poses are more appropriate for emotionally charged guitar passages. Similarly, “cue point” guitar posing involves scratching one’s nose or resting on a drum riser.

The proper guitar posing is essential for playing guitar at high speeds. Incorrect posture can limit the range of movement of the hands, and reduces stamina. Moreover, incorrect stance also reduces accuracy, particularly when playing at high speeds. Therefore, it is important to use a strap to secure the guitar to the player’s body. In addition, it helps to lift the guitar up on the left leg, which allows free movement of the playing hand.
