Handyman David Bonola Appears In Court In Gruesome Murder Of

A handyman, David Bonola, has appeared in court to face charges in the gruesome murder of his former lover, Orsolya Gaal. The woman was found dead in her Forest Hills apartment on April 16. Bonola was arrested the same day and charged with felony murder. Police say he admitted to killing the woman after being questioned by police. He also admitted to making incriminating statements at the police station.

Bonola, a Mexican national, entered the U.S. illegally about 21 years ago. He lived in New York until he was busted for the murder of Gaal. Initially, he tried to blame a coworker and told investigators he cut himself on a work site. But video surveillance revealed that he was at the scene earlier than he said he had been. After the arrest, Bonola was arrested and placed on suicide watch.

Gaal and Bonola had been having an on-off affair for two years. On the day of the murder, Bonola is said to have killed Gaal with a kitchen knife. The victim’s 13-year-old son was upstairs when the attack took place. Several hours later, Bonola can be seen walking near Gaal’s home with a bandage on his left hand.

Police sources said that the killing was not premeditated. Bonola stuffed Gaal’s body into a hockey duffel bag and dragged it through the neighborhood. The crime was caught on surveillance video and detectives were able to follow the blood trail back to his home. They also found Bonola’s hockey jacket, a pair of boots, and a t-shirt.
