Liam Neeson Franchise
Liam Neeson was a popular television character when he first starred in the 1980s TV series “Excalibur.” He dated Helen Mirren for four more years before marrying Natasha Richardson, in 1994. They had two children together. In 2009, Natasha died from an epidural hemomatoma. Liam will play the lead in a new movie in the franchise.
The Liam Neeson franchise has a long history, and this latest entry in the series is no exception. In the first movie, “Taken,” Neeson plays a former black-ops agent whose daughter has been kidnapped by sex traffickers. In “Taken 3,” Neeson reprises his role as the lethal dad. But, while the movie is largely entertaining, critics have been less than impressed by the latest installment.
The sequel to Taken was a huge success at the box office, making Neeson an action star. The films grossed over $930 million worldwide and spawned a prequel television series. Since then, Liam Neeson has appeared in many “Taken”-style movies. While some fans prefer “Taken” movies to “Taken” movies, others find the film series too violent and uninspired.
Although Neeson is a great actor and has a unique set of skills, “Taken 3,” a predictable sequel, is a waste of its star power. While Liam Neeson is clearly the big draw, the film also feels like a shoot-’em-up actioner. Todd Megaton, who has directed five shoot-’em-up action films, does a great job in the past, but this time around, he seems to be struggling to add a distinctive handheld camerawork.
