Gwendolyn Mae Clemons

Detectives have uncovered an important new piece of information in the case of Gwendolyn Mae Clemons. The missing 23-year-old mother of a toddler was last seen around Thanksgiving 1982. She left her baby with an unknown man, who never returned. Less than two weeks later, a deputy responding to a truck driver’s report of a body in a river discovered the toddler’s body.

The investigation into Clemons’ disappearance continues. Police have contacted other law enforcement agencies, and they are asking for public assistance in finding her remains. The man Clemons was traveling with also returned to Missouri without her. Investigators are now trying to determine if anyone else was involved.

The case was reopened in November 2012. Investigators believe that the mother of the baby, also known as Baby Doe, may have been Gwendolyn Mae Clemons. The mother was last seen alive on Nov. 24, 1982, in Joplin, Missouri, and was last seen with her daughter. She may have gone to Florida with the unidentified man.

The body of a child was found in the Escatawpa River in 1982. The child’s mother, Gwendolyn Clemons, was unable to identify the body. The death was mysterious, but the police and family are pursuing every possibility. The investigation continues and investigators will continue to search for her.

The mother of the 18-month-old girl was missing for more than three years after she was last seen in 1982. She was accompanied by her boyfriend. Neither of them reacted to the mother’s request for help. It’s still not clear why she disappeared, but investigators have determined that her unnamed boyfriend may have killed the child.
