Two Wisconsin Crash Deaths on I-39

A single-vehicle crash on Interstate 39 in Wisconsin killed a woman yesterday, but another fatality occurred in Illinois yesterday. The incident was the result of a trucker’s trailer smashing through a portion of the woman’s car. Police and first responders from both cities responded to the scene. Traffic was rerouted and the State Patrol provided a crash investigator to investigate the crash.

Stevens Point woman dies in single-vehicle crash

A woman from Stevens Point died in a single-vehicle crash yesterday, according to Wisconsin State Patrol officials. She was driving a 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan when she crossed over the median and struck a pillar on a bridge. She was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, but the accident remains under investigation.

The Portage County Sheriff’s Office, Stevens Point Police Department, and Hull Fire and EMS responded to the scene, as did the Wisconsin State Patrol. Chris’ Towing also provided assistance.

Trucker dies in fatal accident on i-39 in Wisconsin

A Wisconsin trucker died in a fatal accident on Interstate 39 yesterday, killing his wife and a young girl. The accident happened near Portage in Columbia County. The trucker was walking back to his semi to get tools when he was struck by a passing semi. The driver of a semi and an SUV was killed in the accident. Two passengers were injured, a 10-year-old boy and a man in a pickup truck. The other driver, Clayton Mortenson, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. A fifth person, an unidentified man from De Pere, was not seriously injured in the crash.

Traffic rerouted after 100-car pileup on i-39 in Illinois

A 100-car pileup has shut down a 30-mile stretch of I-39 in Illinois. The crash occurred around 3 p.m. local time on Thursday, closing both directions of the interstate between Normal and Minonk. The Illinois Department of Transportation has issued travel warnings and diversionary routes. The accident is being investigated. At this time, there are no reported injuries.

According to reports, there are at least 50 vehicles in the pileup in Towanda, and the vehicles continue as far as the eye can see. The crash was reportedly caused by heavy snow that fell in the area. The Illinois Department of Transportation said that the incident was causing reduced visibility on southbound I-57 near milepost 243, about six miles north of Champaign.

Trucker’s trailer smashed through entire portion of vehicle

Damage to CMV and passenger vehicles

A five-vehicle crash on I-39 in Wisconsin yesterday has sent eight people to area hospitals. The accident occurred near the 102-mile marker. One woman from Beloit was rushed to Portage Hospital with three small children. The driver and other passengers were taken to Portage Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. One Pewaukee man was med-flighted to a hospital in Madison, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The two other passengers of the truck were taken to Portage Hospital and were treated for minor injuries.
