LVMH Founder Bernard Arnault Has a $211 Billion Net Worth

The world’s richest individuals come by their fortune in various ways: some create lifesaving technologies; some become sports stars; still others operate fashion houses; but few can match Bernard Arnault, founder of luxury goods giant LVMH with an estimated fortune of $211 billion – surpassing such notable figures as Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Google co-founder Larry Page in terms of wealth creation.

Arnault has amassed his fortune through LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the world’s largest luxury group. This company offers Louis Vuitton, Moet & Chandon, Hennessy, Christian Dior brands as well as real estate properties worldwide.

Last year, LVMH set an all-time record sales totaling $82 billion and became the world’s richest publicly held company. Since January this year, its shares have experienced more than 17% gains bringing their total value past $211 billion.

Recently, the company has expanded into the US market. In 2022 it purchased the Los Angeles Clippers and is in the process of buying into a stadium project in Las Vegas. Furthermore, Farfetch, valued at $2.4 billion as of November 2022, belongs to this business group.

But the keystone of LVMH’s success has long been its perfume business. Chanel reported revenue of $17.2 billion for 2022 – up 23% year over year thanks to strong sales of its No. 5 perfume and an increase in ready-to-wear clothing lines.

The company boasts an expansive wine business. It owns Bordeaux winery Chateau Rauzan-Segla and partners with California wineries; many of its brands, such as Moet and Chandon sparkling wines are among the world’s best-selling sparkling wines.

Because of his business acumen, 54-year-old John Hassett has amassed an immense personal net worth.
