Wilson was born November 18th 1970 in Sydney Australia to parents Darcy Wilson (an Australian Army warrant officer) and Karlene White Wilson (an established catering business owner). Wilson relocated from Australia to Los Angeles after finishing her education, in order to pursue her ambition of becoming an actress. She took classes at the Actors Circle Theater and landed several small roles in independent films before auditioning for La Femme Nikita, an adaptation of French film Nikita. Wilson was selected for its lead role of Nikita over 200 other actresses auditioning.
