Tura T Breezy Johnson
Tura T Breezy Johnson is a professional ski racer. At only 21 years old, she is already a well-established name on the World Cup circuit. She specializes in the Super G and Downhill events. She recently won a downhill event in Aspen, Colorado, and is considered a promising prospect for the 2020 Winter Olympics in South Korea.
Johnson is a native of Victor, ID. She grew up tearing down the slopes at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, where she honed her racing skills. In recent years, she has spent her winters away from home, traveling nearly every weekend. Since joining the US Ski Team, her racing career has skyrocketed. Currently, she is studying at Western Washington University. She will spend the offseason in Bellingham, WA.
Johnson began her career as a junior. Her idolized competitor, Lindsey Vonn, inspired her to train hard. Johnson underwent a tibial plateau fracture in March of 2017, but recovered well to compete in the World Cup downhill. In the 2018 Winter Olympics, she competed in her first Olympics and finished seventh.
In January, Breezy Johnson crashed during training, tearing cartilage in her right knee. This injury will likely keep her out of the 2022 Winter Olympics. The news has left the field wide open for other American female skiers. Despite the setback, Breezy Johnson was widely regarded as one of the favorites to win gold in the women’s downhill.
