On The Internet We’re Always Famous
It’s impossible to be famous for nothing. That’s what happens to some people – we make something viral, and it gets spread. However, viral videos and events can make others popular. With the Internet, any content can go viral and become an internet meme. Zach Anner gained worldwide attention after entering the Oprah Winfrey’s “Search for the Next TV Star” competition. Talk shows and websites often feature viral individuals.
In the past, being famous was only possible for those who were exposed to mass media. The definition of “celebrity”, as it was known, changed with the rise in popularity of the internet. A whole new class of internet celebrities was born. The internet has changed this distinction in many ways. In fact, we’re always famous to at least fifteen people on the Internet.
